Pawfit vs Tractive: the short version

Both are true cellular GPS trackers with live location, safety-zone alerts and waterproof designs. Pawfit gives UK buyers a particularly light option in the 17.6g Pawfit Lite and a 27g Pawfit 3, while Tractive's current DOG 6 starts at 39g and adds a broader health-monitoring layer.

Choose Pawfit if…

  • A light tracker matters, especially for a smaller dog.

  • You value five-second FIND-mode updates.

  • You want UK-focused mapping options including Ordnance Survey on eligible plans.

  • You prefer Pawfit's lower published subscription starting prices on longer plans.

Choose Tractive if…

  • Longer quoted battery life is important.

  • You want integrated activity, sleep and health-monitoring features.

  • You travel internationally and value broad worldwide network coverage.

  • Your dog is comfortably above the DOG 6 minimum recommended size of 4kg.

Subscription costs matter more than the sticker price

The devices themselves are relatively inexpensive, but the recurring plan is part of the real cost of ownership. Pawfit says its subscriptions cover the embedded SIM and mobile data; Tractive says the same. Compare the plan you would realistically keep, not only the initial tracker price.

What about rural walks?

Both systems depend on GPS plus mobile connectivity. A tracker can know where it is from satellite signals yet still struggle to report that location if there is no usable cellular connection. For countryside walking, coverage where you actually walk matters more than marketing claims about unlimited range.
