Best Dog GPS Trackers Without Subscription UK 2026: What You Gain — and Give Up

Updated 16 September 2026. Prices and specifications were checked against manufacturer information; they can change.

Do dog GPS trackers without subscriptions really exist?

Yes. In the UK, PitPat sells a true GPS dog tracker with live tracking and no ongoing subscription. That is unusual because most GPS trackers use an embedded SIM and mobile data, which is why products such as Pawfit and Tractive charge recurring fees.

The quick answer

If avoiding monthly fees is your priority, PitPat is the obvious UK option to investigate. If you prefer a lower upfront device price, very frequent live-location updates, or particular app features, a subscription tracker may still make more sense.

Tracker	Upfront price	Subscription	Live GPS	Weight
PitPat GPS	£149	None	Yes	30g
Pawfit Lite	£42	Required	Yes	17.6g
Tractive DOG 6	£59	Required	Yes	39g

Why do most GPS trackers charge a subscription?

A true GPS pet tracker does two separate jobs: it receives satellite positioning data and then sends the dog's location back to your phone. That second step normally uses a mobile network and an embedded SIM. Pawfit and Tractive therefore bundle cellular data into their subscription plans.

Where a no-subscription tracker can make sense

• You dislike recurring charges and would rather pay more upfront.

• You want genuine GPS tracking rather than a Bluetooth item finder.

• You expect to keep the same tracker for several years.

• You are happy to check local mobile coverage before relying on it in remote areas.

The trade-off: no subscription does not mean no network dependence

PitPat still uses GPS satellites and mobile networks to report a dog's location. The absence of a subscription does not remove the need for cellular coverage. In weak-signal areas, all cellular GPS trackers can be affected.
