Premium Dog Beds: When Is It Worth Spending More?

Materials, support, washability and durability: what separates a genuinely good dog bed from an expensive cushion.

Comfort is individual

Age, size, sleeping position and temperature all matter. A young curled-up terrier and an older large dog with stiff joints may need very different beds.

Support and construction

Good foam, stable edges and a base that does not collapse quickly can justify paying more, particularly for heavier or older dogs.

Washability is non-negotiable

Removable covers, realistic washing instructions and replaceable components can matter more over five years than how luxurious a bed looks on day one.

Our test

Premium should mean better materials, useful support and longer service life. If the extra money buys only branding, it will not earn our recommendation.
